The book begins with a overview of the characteristics and tendencies of the nations that have had the most success in the Champions League in the last few decades. It then describes how the teams employ specific tactics and the roles and responsibilities of each position within various systems of play. The majority of the book focuses on how the coaches of the most prominent teams organize their team to achieve the best results.

Author Michele Tossani, is a coach and student of the game. Tossani is the author of Modulo 4-3-2-1 and Analisi Tattica Champions League 2002 – 2003 books both published in Italy.
